BBUS is hosting a number of events across its offices and sites in the UK throughout November, to raise awareness of National Road Safety Week. (10th – 16th November), supported by Brake, the road safety charity.

As part of the month-long campaign, BBUS has been working with MindSafety, a specialist training company, to deliver seminars to improve the health and safety culture of drivers across the business. This is just a small part of a long term initiative called the 'Belief Based Behavioural' programme, being rolled out in 2009, designed to change the way BBUS employees go to work each day.

The events during November also include some of its community partners, such as the Holy Trinity Primary School in Halifax, who held a special road safety Parent Assembly evening, on Thursday 13th November. BBUS has supported the school over the last 2 years to help with their on-going road safety campaign, which included helping set up the school's walking bus in 2007.

BBUS was also proud to officially present a cheque for over £18,000 to Brake's mascot, Zac the Zebra, for the money raised at their recent charity ball, at the Parent Assembly.

Brent Mitchell, Head of Support Services for BBUS said: "Road Safety Week is an excellent vehicle to remind and educate our employees and communities, regarding current road safety issues. We decided to plan events throughout the whole of November, supported by Mindsafety, to ensure all our teams across the UK received information and support, as they travel and work around Britain's busy roads. Holy Trinity Primary School has an excellent programme of activities to educate the children and we are delighted to support them each year."

Liz Whetham, Deputy Head Teacher of Holy Trinity Primary School spoke about the Parent Evening: "We are delighted to be supported by members of our local community, BBUS and Calderdale Road Safety team during road safety week each year. We are demonstrating a collaborative approach to an issue which we are all, to different extents, responsible for. Training, support, resources and time are needed to deliver the road safety message to our children and parents and we are extremely grateful to all our supporters from the world of business and the community."
